Typical Bricmont designed soaking pit. The typical scope of work for a Bricmont FAST study is as follows:
Bricmont will perform the following specific tasks to achieve the project goals:
  1. Inspect the furnace to review the combustion system, controls, refractory, recuperator (if present), and furnace structure.
  2. Operating data will be collected for a representative product size and grade to establish the baseline for existing product quality and performance level. The data will include surface temperatures, furnace temperatures, air preheat temperature, combustion air and fuel flows, furnace pressure, and oxygen concentrations.
  3. A computer model will be developed for the representative product to simulate the observed data and establish the baseline for existing product quality and performance level. The model will be a multidimensional, finite difference model including temperature dependent properties. The model will determine the temperature differentials within the product throughout it's time in the furnace.
  4. Operating changes designed to save fuel will recommended. The areas considered will be the temperature setpoints, furnace pressure, product loading, and combustion ratio. Insulation and recuperator maintenance will be considered where appropriate.
  5. A modified case computer model will be developed based on Bricmont's proposed modified operating procedures to quantify the improvement in energy usage that will result. The model will further show that the modified operation results in discharge temperature differentials within the piece as good as, or better than, those observed.
  6. Fuel cost savings will be calculated for recommended changes to the furnace.
  7. A prioritized list of physical modifications to the furnace which may result in fuel savings will be developed. The list will be based on past projects that have resulted in positive economic payback, and will be tailored to this furnace.
  8. The conclusions, recommendations, discussions and analysis will be communicated in a summary report which will include transient heating and heat balance figures.
  9. After your personnel have had an opportunity to review the report, Bricmont engineers will conduct a follow-up presentation at the plant to review the major conclusions and recommendations of the study and answer any questions.
Delivery of FAST evaluations will be one to two weeks after receipt of a purchase order and the completed field visit. Typical Bricmont designed round top melter.
Bricmont's firm lump sum price to complete the above scope of work is $XXXX exclusive of travel costs.
