Inductotherm Industries e-Zone online customer services
Typical Bricmont designed soaking pit.  Bricmonts FAST evaluation was developed to meet the needs of customer’s who want to learn how to cut furnace fuel rates with the minimum possible cost.  Our combined computational and project implementation backgrounds will assure successful completion of the study goals.

The main focus of the FAST evaluation will be to:
  • Reduce Specific Fuel Consumption
  • Calculate Internal Steel Temperatures
  • Identify Physical Modifications for Potential Fuel Savings
The FAST evaluation will occur over the course of a visit to your plant. It will start with a data collection, tracking a particular piece through the furnace and measuring fuel flows. A computer model of the furnace will be developed that simulates this observed operation. The calibrated model will then be utilized to calculate the fuel savings and steel temperature differentials that will result from the modified operating parameters that Bricmont recommends. Based on Bricmont’s forty years of furnace experience, a prioritized list of physical modifications to the furnace will also be developed. The evaluation results will be summarized in a report, documenting the model results and recommendations.

Typical Bricmont designed control screen. For Bricmont to get started, certain items need to be arranged prior to Bricmont’s arrival on site. These include:
  1. Scheduling the evaluation visit at a time when an appropriate product is being rolled at near maximum rate.
  2. Filling out a questionnaire (which can be found here) which provides the background necessary to complete the evaluation in a timely manner.
  3. Installing access ports like those shown in the attached sketch (Click here to view) in each furnace zone and upstream and downstream of the recuperator. Where this furnace includes viewports or access doors in a zone, these are sufficient; additional access ports do not need to be installed.
  4. Check calibration of all instrumentation.
